Nanoloop was a music making program for
Gameboys that allowed users to manipulate
the consoles limited range of sounds. In a
way, its influence was a bridge between the
NES era blips and bleeps of the 80's & today's

become ubiquitous aspects of the pop culture
sound scape, which is impressive considering
the obscure, diy culture in which the program
This compilation served as an advertisement

Right around the millennium, a video of Zbigniew Karkowski
performing live solidified my interest in making noise music.
The intense expressions on his monitor screen lit face
were an epiphany. I have followed his career and works
with enthusiasm since then.
That Karkowski passed from the same type of illlness that
took my father a few months back makes the noise masetros
death all the more personal for me. Pancreatic cancer is the
cruelty of natural on full display.
Condolences to his family and loved ones.

A quadruple album recorded in the fall of '95,
this is John Olson's first D.L. Savings Time
release from early in the American Tapes catalog,
ripped and graciously presented to the blog by
one of its five owners (thanks to Si Wilson).
Enjoy and spread it round!
