Jürgen Karg
"Elektronische Mythen"

CDr, Creel Pone, 2006

This is the original, under the radar proto-new age
mod synth style from the 70's that the current Emeralds
generation is hawking via their lofi cassette labels.

Creel Pone is a bootleg CDr reissue label focusing on
obscure, pre-rave/techno electronic music. This album
was written throughout the 70's and originally released
on Mood Records in 1977.

Hijokaidan & Busratch
"Split Series #1"

CD, Monotype, 2003

Check this out, the Syfy (erg!) channel show Ghosts Hunters
is filming at the neighbors across the street, tonight. My daughter
is friends with the young girl who lives there, and has spent the
night there on several occasions.
She LOVES ghosts (and dragons)
so was super psyched to hear of the filming. As for me, I think
the treatment South Park gave the show says how I feel about
these types of programs.

Åke Hodell
"Verbal Brainwash
And Other Works"

CDx3, Fylkingen, 2000

Åke Hodell (1919-2000) was a Swedish Fluxist whose often politically charged text-sound pieces meshed radio drama works with Musique Concrete based on the electronic element of the human voice. Followers of this blog may recognize his name from a previous posting of the Lasse Marhaug & Mats Gustafsson 7'' entitled "For Åke Hodell", a release that employed the same compositional approach as Hodell.

Mike Shiflet
"Tibprod Single No 41"

File, Tibprod, 2004

For the better part of the last decade, Tibprod has been
one of Norway's busiest noise related net/cdr labels.
Their early net releases included FREE offerings from:
Tore H. Boe, Lasse Marhaug, Illusion Of Safety,
Autistici, Aleph, Terje Paulsen, Bram Stadhouders,
Kenji Siratori, Ophibre, Chefkirk, Pulse Emitter,
Aiden Baker, Kenneth Kirschner, Mick Harris and
Conrad Schnitzler. No kiddin', THEE Conrad Schnitzler.

Amongst these releases was one by former Gameboy
records duder Mike Shiflet who presents
two tracks of
no input noise. Now your Shiflet collection is complete.

Or you know what I'm saying.

LP, Pico, 1986

Abstract compositions by Japanese musician
Hideaki Shimada, who is to the violin what
Evan Parker is to the saxophone. Found this
at the weird Japanese music blog Stalking Duppi,
which described it as "completely bleak and
". While I wouldn't necessarily agree
with that assessment, you gotta admit the
Wolf Eyes/AA Records style artwork is pretty
fitting. Side a is one long skittering ode to
squeak and squall, while the flip is a multi-
tracked piece which incorporates the studio
as an instrument.
